The protection of your personal data is very important to us. The data about your person is especially critical and is the subject of data privacy.

Personal data is information about a certain or identifiable person. It includes information such as your name, postal address, email address, and telephone number, as well as other applicable usage data, such as your IP address.

Access to our Servers, Data Gathering and Processing

We log any access to our servers and the retrieval of any file stored there for technical reasons. Storing this data helps us to provide and maintain our service, perform internal system optimization, gather statistics, and monitor for misuse. The following information is logged: name of the file retrieved or uploaded, date and time of retrieval, transferred data volume, hash value of an uploaded file if applicable, notification of successful retrieval, web browser, and requesting domain. In addition, the IP addresses of the requesting computers are logged. Gathering this data does not enable us to directly establish the identity of an individual.

Cookies

Cookies are text files that are saved on your device, e.g. your computer. Cookies enable your user settings and usage behavior to be stored and allow our service to be used to greater advantage. As a rule, cookies are accepted by your browser, although you can adjust your browser settings to reject all cookies or only accept them under certain circumstances. Data You Have Provided

In general, it is not necessary for you to provide specific information about your personal data, nor will we request that you do so. If you send us a text message, we may store information related to your message under certain circumstances, including your telephone number, mobile phone operator providing the number, as well as the time and content of your message.

To the extent that your personal data needs to be accessed, we will ensure that the employees accessing it have been pledged to data secrecy pursuant to Sec. 5 BDSG [German Federal Data Protection Act].

If you are the user of a paid account, we require additional information, such as for safeguarding payment handling. In individual cases, it may be necessary for us to pass on your personal data to third parties in order to perform the contractual services, e.g. in order to handle payments.

To process payments, we use the services of Ingenico a leading payment service provider. Please note the Data Privacy Statement of Ingenico as well as its terms of use, which you will need to accept when setting up a paid account. Elavon is our credit card acceptance partner. Your Content

Your content may be anything that can be transmitted digitally, e.g. pictures, videos, text, music, or files. Your content is your personal business and generally only becomes public to the extent you permit. You decide whether to approve the visibility of your content only for the people chosen by you or for everyone. Please consider that special access information such as a key can be used multiple times. For instance, this might be the case if your recipient(s) send(s) the access information or content to people who are not among the individuals chosen by you. Therefore, please be careful.

If you have chosen the “public content” option, we reserve the right to use an excerpt of your content for our own online advertising, e.g. as a status report or to indicate that something has recently been published under your user name. If we learn of a violation of our Terms of Use, potential misuse of content, or a potential violation of the law involving your content, we reserve the right to temporarily or permanently block access to this data and content and possibly to delete the content. You will be informed of this.

Data Protection

Technical measures are in place to protect our servers against misuse. We understand misuse to be unauthorized access, including unauthorized retrieval, unauthorized modification, unauthorized disclosure, or the destruction of data or content belonging to you or others.

We regularly initiate data backups of all data stored. If you use our service offer, please note that only your personal data, specifically the data related to your user access, is especially protected against data loss. Despite regular data backups, it is still possible for your content to be lost completely or in part under certain circumstances.

Account Deletion

Your account data and existing personal data will be deleted from our system as early as possible once you delete your account and any payment period has elapsed, unless this is counteracted by legal obligations or our legitimate business interests, such as in the event of pending legal disputes. Please note that there may be a delay for deleting information from our servers and that there may still be backup copies after deletion.

Any content posted by you when using our services free of charge will be permanently deleted from the server as soon as possible, depending on the settings selected or the account. We have not provided a restore function. Naturally, you can also choose to delete content earlier.

Information, Deletion, Blocking, Revocation

As a registered user with a real name or nickname (pseudonym), you can request information at any time about the data you store at our site, have the data deleted or blocked, or ask that any erroneous data be corrected. No general function to search for users or stored contents has been provided. For certain services with paid accounts that permit searching for or contacting users, your consent to automated processing of the data provided by you is required.
